Seems pretty pointless if you ask me. When you take of your head your suppose to have the head decked anyways so having a head o-ringed only cost like an extra $300 and you won't have to worry about taking boost over 50psi. I don't see why you guys want to spend more money to avoid o-ringing. ALMOST any machine shop can put the grooves in your head, all they need is a new gasket. Unless they have no idea what their doing and then I wouldn't consider them a machine shop... just a shop with machines.

according to thier services site it says you have to cut grooves in the head or block but in the product descrip it says no grooves need to be cut???? anyone know about this setup?

only what i have read. they look just like cometic 'power rings', cept theirs are steel instead of copper. power rings do not req any groove, and from what i read neither do these, if you run the .105 rings. then they have .118 for if you have the head grooved for a o-ring (but are gonna run fire ring instead, no wire) and 125 for if you have a receiver groove in the block and used to have o-ring in the head - least thats how i read it

a grand for the good studs and a gskt

its kinda like the $490 turbo's they are selling for almost 1500 bucks if you ask me

i am really temped to use a solid copper gskt o-rings and reg studs

i know how to put that together so it wont as much as seep on intial start up (yes, before retorque) but dont know about 20k miles later and all those heat cycles

too many choices

cant sleep

lol

i was in the stands when that happened right in front of me in houston. i've never heard a diesel engine sound that way (although it didnt stay there for long). the most amazing thing was how HARD the sled hit the back of the truck  . had to scare the hell out of the old guy.
