engine build up

Postby skilletky » Tue Jan 15, 2008 5:26 pm

need some help. i bought a 91.5 d350 dully with an auto trans. this is my first diesel i have owned, and the first mechanical inj engine i have worked on, well i mean the first engine with a ve pump. my main question is, where can i find performance parts for the 1st gen, i really don,t have much time to look around on the net, and i cant find newhere( northern ky area about 10 min from ohio and indiana) around me that knows much about them. i am looking to go all out on this, it is just going to take a few years. time has become scarce cents i got outta collage and started working. i just need some sites, phone numbers, ect of companys. plus any tips or advise anyone is willing to give out.

well start by doing all the mods on the pump, if your going all, out start by gauges, then remove the afc lever dont buy the fuel pin waste of mone and it wont give you much, put the fuel screew all the way in, instead of buying small injectors, (unless you find some cheap ones one ebay) go right for the big ones but you cant put them in untill you can suply enough fuel read the posts it will tell you how to do that, get some twins, hx40 and hx or ht 60 its a cheep set and lots of air, your going to need a 14mm head pm me if you want that info, but just read the treads it will tell you what you need and how to do it, and your also going to have to do somthing about the tranny

thank ya sir. i've done got a boost, pyro, and ordered a trans temp. i have messed with the pump and turned it up, not too much though. i am probably going to pull the pump off the truck this weekend if it gets above 10 degrees outside. i found a pump shop in indiana, would it be worth it to take it there and have them mess with it?

99% of the shops that work on pumps have no idea of what you talking about, they think you can only have enough fuel to power 160hp with a ve pump, well we have proved them wrong, now it the guy knows about ve and how to hot rod it maby, just order the 14mm head and put it on, its not hard, cost you alot less, i pm you the info on the 14mm

You are going to need a lot of other stuff with that 14mm pump head. Piston lift pump, bigger turbo or twins, 4 or 5 inch exhaust, big I/C, big injectors, new trans,......

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

i am going to see if the place where i get injectors and turbos from for my work can get a hx40 and 60 for me. i thought about putting a single hx52 on my truck, it has got a 16cm turbine housing on it, but i am worried about turbo lag. this truck is going to be a daily driver and weeked 1/4 runner, and pulling stuff every now and then.
