External Wastgates

Postby CumminsPride » Thu Jan 17, 2008 2:35 pm

I am not finding much on external wastegates other than 50mm. Where can I find something for lets say 2 1/2" or 3" and reliable for 50psi??? I am building twins and mocking up a custom manifold to move the outlet forward and up slightly. Also trying to find an external gate to make tuning easier. I need the gate so I know what to build into the manifold and where.

On a bit of ponder I am considering building my own kind of similar to a exhaust brake. My concern is sealing the shaft that the gate will function on. Any thoughts here are much welcomed too.

Thanks for any advice.

Then I'll just plan on fabbing one! What's the easiest way to seal the shaft through the pipe in a home made pack brake?

i was just planning on having a decent fit between a brass bushing and a SS shaft and calling it good. it'll never really see any pressure(unless of course, you decided to put the brake plate on the back side of the shaft for some reason), so it doesn't even need THAT great of a fit.

Never thought of it like that. Makes sense though. Thanks for the insight.
