Nitrous, window switch required?

Postby 07Chassis » Sun Jan 27, 2008 12:32 am

I've been running nitrous on pretty much everything including rental cars. Just never ran nitrous on a diesel. What rpm do you begin to spray at on a cummins? On a gas motor usually the window turns on at 3k, and off before the limiter, or shift point on a stock auto trans.

Obviously you run a dry kit on a diesel, jet it until the smoke clears, stops making power, or you feel your making to much power.

Can you spray these things of idle or what?

Thanks guys. Im trying to read as much as I can, and forget as much as I can about gassers on this website. Its all reversed. Boost lowers your egts, who woulda thought.

From what I gather from pulling NOS for a year. I have mine set with a microswitch on the pedal. It comes on at about 2,500 rpm. I launch at 2,000 rpms so it will have the 500 rpm's get a load on the truck from the sled so it won't snuff it out. It helps with my boost lag with the NOS coming on earlier than WOT.When I bought the kit the guy told me I wanted it to come on at WOT but I think you can have it come on anytime as long as you have enough fuel for the NOS to burn up(I may be wrong on this).

I would have thought 2,500 would be kinda late on a diesel?

Max torque is made around 26-2700 rpm. Even with a 3200 spring it only goes up a little, 2800 tops.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

that would depend on how much sh1t you plan on squeezin and what injectors you are running

how many jets are you running?

what size orfice?

whos solenoid(s)?

what injectors?

i told josh to activate the nitrous at around 1700 cruise

and then as soon as he saw boost to nail the throttle

2 nozzles one solenoid were good for almost 200 hp

that was with a ve and 6x18's

his truck is making over 1000 hp now

tank

ps - i custom build units if you need one

or tuning help

Spraying from a roll really isn't my thing, I more interested from a stop. I guess if your making 5-10lbs of boost your golden, and aren't lugging the thing.

One more question, nozzle location? What is best?

One more question, nozzle location? What is best? On an n/a engine closest to the tb works best (other than direct port). I've heard of "freezing" happening on diesels. Don't know how true that is, never had it happened on an n/a.

i have a nozzle in my crossover pipe and one at my intake elbow. the new intak has a spray bar in it so it will be kinda direct port style.
