Build plan?

Postby ryan10 » Sun Feb 10, 2008 5:17 pm

Hey guys, im trying to get around if not over 350 horse and 700 ft lbs.

So far, this is what i have: the truck is a 93 4x4.

the mods are: suncoast tranny, fuel screw maxed, pump tweaked, bully dog injectors. (does anyone know the stats on these injectors, ive looked everywhere but cant find a definite answer. how do they compare to PODs?)
bully dog fuel pin, 14cm housing, and water meth.

I just ordered my 3200 spring, it should be here soon. while im in the pump, im going to grind the AFC foot.

A piston pump is also coming soon, as it deffidently needs it at WOT.

The turbo is stock. what would you recommend for an upgrade? i dont have a ton of money to spend, so what is something affordable?

What else needs to be done to reach my goal? bigger injectors? what would you recommend?
thanks.

soon to come: turbo upgrade.

i think with the combo you already have a 62-65 or a 64-71 s300 turbo with a 14cm housing would put you at or if not over you 350 hp mark. i think the bully dog injectors are basicly like pod's

From what I've gathered the bigger BullyDog sticks are POD's. Also the Bullydog fuel pin won't be necessary if you grind your afc off. Nor any afc mods. Ford is right the S300 will be the "cheaper in the long run" way to go.

if you just grind it some then the pin will still have some function if you completely remove the afc lever thats when the pin no longer is useful. and yes the bully dog injectors are pod's they just dont call them that.

Most people get happy with the grinder and completely remove the foot. This will result in no afc function.

Ok, thanks guys. these injectors dont smoke much like PODs, but if there the same power rating, i guess thats good. How much will one of those turbos cost? i was origionally thinking an hx40. Where would this put me? I was wondering what i should do first, a turbo or even bigger injectors? im leaning towards a turbo now considering i have it wastegated at about 27 psi and thats all the stock turbo can handle. So, what hx40 would i need? how much boost could it handle? would i be better off with an s300 or something? the only thing that scares me is the cost. Also, im not going to completely remove the foot, just grind it a bit. how much should i grind?
thanks

i like the hx 40 that i have and it was cheap, before the hx40 i was looking for a s300, ford says its easy to find but i never had that luck, even with the hx40 you will do well over 350hp

yeah i cant get any used s300's right now either i guess no one has blown up any later model c-7 cat motors lol. the s300 will spool fater than the hx 40 and the s300 series have extended tip compressor wheels so they have a wider compressor map and flow more air. you can get on ebay and catch s300 series for under 1000 bucks brand new. hx40's like to come apart at 45-50psi atleast all of my friends and mine both have done. if you got enough fuel and still have stock head gasket and bolts then i would keep it 45psi or under I ran mine at 60psi for a while but the gasket finally went
