Camshafts

Postby seeker1056 » Mon Feb 25, 2008 12:29 pm

I know that our cam gears are pressed on, but how are they indexed?
Is there a key or pin of some sort?
If a key has anyone played with advancing or retarding the camshaft for more performance with offset keys?
Is there a reason the cam couldnt be turned slightly to allow for a slip fit in the cam gear , and the end of the cam drilled for a bolt and retainer washer like a BB Ford so oen could pllay with cam timing?
If so it wouldnt be too hard to put a removable wwindow in the cam cover to facilitate easy changes
Thoughts
Thanx

The cam gears are pressed on, and they use a metric key, so you can use VP44 Injection pump offset keys to move the cam around if you would like. The adjustable gear is trick, but kind of a waste in my opinion unless you are going to run on an engine dyno, it would be a pain in the ass to try to change it around in the truck and once you get it where you want it you won't ever change it again anyways.
