HTT Stage IV upgrade=max boost?

Postby JQmile » Wed Mar 19, 2008 7:40 am

Anybody know how much boost you can run with a stock turbo and a Hi Tech Turbo Stage IV compressor upgrade before the turbo goes boom?

Depends on your luck from what I hear. I've taken a baby h1c over 40 several times and a local guy around hear has been running 60 from a stock hx 35 for over a year now. But I've heard that the compressor upgrades really arnt worth the money. I would keep the big housing on it and spray the crap out of it. Save up for a real turbo.

I've seen 40psi. I doubt you'll make anything over that that isn't hot air. Oh and Cshafer is right, keep the big housing on there. On the strip, you'll need the top end air. Use the juice to get it off the line.

The other thing I was thinking about doing is just wastegating the stock turbo at like 30-35psi and then using a HT3B or something and making some twins :D

You can get 12cm gated housings off hx35's and port them real good and open the orfice up as much as possible. This will help you flow enough to keep the HT3B happy. Gate the H1C at about 20-25 to give your big guy some drive pressure to spool. But what has been suggested above would be cheap route for a single.

Please step up to the next platform already. Show your readers how to install a s300 with a 4" downpipe in a 1st gen. This is a drag truck right? Don't waste your time with a hx35 or h1c upgrade.

Dang, 53psi? What type of exhaust housing ya using? Yeah originally the plan was to build a clapped out, tubbed out drag truck with like 5 stages of nitrous and an 8-71 blower ot something wild like that. Since then, the powers that be have decided a full out drag truck would "lose reader interest," hence the conservative approach......now I don't know if the truck will ever see anything past 12s, too bad too, I think a 4-link VE truck with a 727 could run in the 10s if it was setup right.

I really dont think it would need all of the 4 link stuff a good set of traction bars and take some out of the spring pack would hook good. I think people would get a kick out of a budget drag truck that actually put out some good numbers

Well I am still going to try that much and see how it hooks, I have the tire for it (33x10.5W's)...I figure if 600rwhp on fuel is reachable, nitrous ought to bump it up to about 800rwhp, which should be 10s in a truck as light as mine......oops, thread hijack.

i completely agree with Bill, I went with a s300 and love it, but if your gonna keep the h1c put a 16cm or 18cm with an external gate and twin it that way that gigle gas wont break the h1c.
