What is the common law on diesels and being muffled for inspection? My inspection is comming up and i would love to not waste my time.

It depends on the state.

Texas law says something about rotary devices being acceptable mufflers, but also something about such rotary device needing to be seperate from the engine.

So I've heard stories about Texas guys not having to run one because they have a turbo, and I've heard stories about Texas guys being informed that the law doesn't work that way.

I think it comes down to Bo the Inspector's understanding of the law.

And the Spurs suck.

I live in unincorporated Weld Co. CO where we have no vehicle inspection, no smog test, no nuthin' like that.

But I suppose it will eventually come if the greens get their way.

Yeah i live in Wy and Wy is still a common sence state........... what i mean by that, is, we have less rules............ no I/M at all! You are allowed to us common sence when your vehicle need attention...........if your brake are noise fix then.........if not........you will learn the hard way. if you muffler falls off on you Diesel........Fix it..........or you will learn the hard way, as you go deaf. I run with out a muffer but when my tall pipe rotted off..........Ya it was cool for a day and a week later it had a tail pipe again! ;)

Unfortunately i live in a border line town..........So, Utah keep trying to stick there fingers over the border.....................I sure wish some one would lope them off when they do that.

Smoke'm while you can..............because the GREEN weenie coming to git Yaa :violin: :safe:

when i had to go to my inspection, i had the 3inch with a 7 inch stack, and it was loud, so i found a 2inch generator muffler that was 4 inches wide and 1.5' tall and i stuff it down the hole

it quieted it down, lost a ton of power and the muffler was kind of fryed when i was done with it, but as soon as i left i pulled over and took it out
