ksb questions

Postby seeker1056 » Wed May 21, 2008 5:36 am

Just so I am clear becuase i have read in various places that it is both ways, or that some years were different etc etc - so for the 93 VE is the ksb providing timing when no power to it, or with power to it?

Can it be run under power for 18-22 seconds for a truckkpull without damaging the pump?

I am thinking every little bit of extra power will help for when i go PP and VP chasin this spring.

I am the only Ve pumped truck out there in my area ;) :D

The 93 KSB needs to be energized for the additional timing. 18-22 seconds is less than I have ran mine and still no failures that's with the pump already against the head.

how much fuel pressure do you run?

I am told that ksb timing makes case pressure go way up, and added fuel pressure makes it more so?

How much can the case withstand before failure?
thanx

I wouldn't make a habit of running around with it energized, but for track or dyno use there really isn't any issue.

There's a thread with case pressures posted, no load and loaded case pressures are very different.

Thats not a leak, its the external lubrication system.

The late KSB has a pressure relief that dumps the pressure like normal if pressure exceeds a certain value. Therefore you don't need to worry about damaging your case from running it like that. The bigger danger is creating excessive heat in the pump and causing the plunger to seize, so beaware of that.
