leaf spring bushings

Postby DTanklage » Thu May 29, 2008 11:58 am

how many would be interested in high quality custom urethane bushings for the first gen?

wouldnt have to be for the leaf springs only but i thought about those first cuz i know how stupid skyjacker is

my truck still has the bolt floppin around in the bushing

set up is expensive but if i can find enough of us to make it work out it sure would be sweet

lemme know

Why Not Just Buy Them

Postby Ace » Thu May 29, 2008 2:19 pm

These are off-the-shelf parts available from dozens of distributors, choose your color. Why would you do this?

Or I dunno, try bigger bolts maybe?

If you call that place you listed I bet you would find out those spring eye bushings they list are for 1/2 bolts. 91.5/93 model CTD trucks have 5/8's front spring eye bolts in them.

If you order a set of skyjacker soft ride springs they send the 1/2 bolt bushings no matter what you tell them. After they ship you the wrong front spring eye bushings do not waste your time calling eather. Been there, done that.

I got my alcans done with rubber bushings and 5/8s bolts. Are you going to have some made? With the steel sleeve? I might be interested in some to use to make links with for my Jeep.

i can get em any size or shape

with or without a sleeve

but there is set up time involved

i am not going to do it for my first gen unless at least a few others want to do it too

still cant believe skyjacker ships em like that well aware of what is going on

arent the 2wd guys gonna eventually want new rear springs?

the stock 1 ton springs have a larger 'eye' than the skyjacker replacements

if i were you i would just use moog stuff

guess that goes for the 3/4 ton guys too?
