HX55 Parts

Postby VEfreak » Sat May 31, 2008 12:38 pm

Did they make different size housings and turbines for the HX55? And if they did, does anyone know where I can purchase them. If i can find smaller turbines and housings, i'd like to run an hx55 as a 64/71 or even an 64/73

I dont think what you want to do is possible

There are to my knowledge only two comprssor sizes for the new style hx55 and both use the same turbine which is 3.031 or 77mm. So 68/77 and 74/77

There are only two exhaust housing as well 18 and 23 cm

You might be able to adapt an hx50 housing and compressor wheel from what i have heard - but nobody sems willing to supply specs.

You could very likely buy an HTT or similar turbo in the size you want for less money than a bastardized hx55

JR Adkins I believe was running hx 55's on the manifold. I believe he was machining hx 40 16cm housings to fit around the 55.

Anything can be done. First you need the hard to find hx40 16cm housing or the even harder to find 14cm housing. Then take some measurements of the id of the housing and the turbine wheel. It's not a big deal for a good machine shop, that's willing to do the work.

After all this, you're stuck with a poor charger choice for the low rpm VE motor.
