i think hes saying, of all the 12 valve 5.9 cams, which would you pick? which makes me wonder, where is all the info on cam specs? why is it not talked about? whats the difference between my stock cam and my buddies 2nd gen? why do i put out more torque as him but still achieve the same HP as he does? i know its in the cam but where are the specs.

The specs are a closely guarded secret, but anybody with a degree wheel and dial indicator can measure them for them selves. Truth is there are only 3 stock cummins 12V cam profiles. You have non intercooled, intercooled, and marine. Each of those has slightly more intake and exhaust lift and duration.

Fuelling and turbos will also affect your torque curve.

The later cams have some longevity improvments, but they run the same cuz the profiles are virtually identical. The 24V has diffrent (bigger)profiles.

The non-ic is the smallest cam, and I am still running mine. You cant get the cam out with the engine in the truck without either taking the core support off or cutting it. I have a custom cam I had ground to go in it when I rebuild the engine....................................someday.

Any updates on your motor progress? I am curious about your custom ground cam profile/performance...

Does "old Yellow" have enough power to liquify the tires, even if you floor it at 60 on the freeway? My HEMI Road runner used too, and I won't be happy until my truck can roast the hides at almost any speed like it could!!!

Not unless the roads were wet. I would say anything over a 20mph kick would hook and go, it might pull the front left wheel but it would not spin. The utility bed full of junk keeps the rear firmly planted and hooked up. My truck is kind of heavy for eating tires.

What do you mean by "pull the front left wheel"?

Is that the first wheel that looses traction when you run in 4x4, or do you mean that you're pulling it off the ground?

How much do you need before you can make a Cummins do a wheelstand? I've never seen one...
