If someone on this board wants to try a set out and post their results, please PM and we can talk. It is recommended that you have other mods to handle the extra fuel.

Recieved my edm's for try outs

Postby cumminsram » Wed Feb 14, 2007 3:06 pm

Well I bought a set of these nozzles from turbodiesel and im here to list my results. Keep in mind I will be doing two seperate tests.I was going to only test them once with new turbo I will be recieving but I ll test them twice so we ll have results with stock turbo as well. The first set of tests will be with an h1c 16 cm housing. At idle a decent amount of haze is visable but not much more than a set of pods. In a balls to the wall take off from 2nd gear it will run egt's to 1200 degrees and run right up to 31 pounds of boost. The truck cruises at 5-7 pounds and with the slightest tap of the accelerator it will run 10-15 pounds. It idles much nicer than it did when I had pods also. It runs 1.5 to 2 pounds of boost at idle. At around 55mph egts sit steady at 900 degrees. When cruising at 55 mph the injectors never actually clear out and continue to blow a light amount of black smoke. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask me. Hopefully within the next two weeks I will have a B1 hooked up and Ill post results for that. So far Im very pleased with these tips espicially for there price

I dont think you will be real happy with that B-1 with no more fuel than you have. When I had my stock H1c(18cm) on my 89 I could easily hit 42-45PSI with my injectors and my pump maxed out. With boost barely in the 30's I think a full on B-1 is a little too big to drive good or make good power for you. I have never had any setups that made boost at idle though???? It also sounds like your EGT's are WAY hot. My egt's have always run very close to 10deg/ MPH and never more than 15deg/MPH.

better than pods from my view.

Postby cumminsram » Thu Feb 15, 2007 6:39 am

 Theres much more power to be had than pods if you have the turbo to keep up. The h1c spools instantly but cant keep up at 31 pounds soot never truley clears out and thats all my h1c would do but the injectors had plenty left  . With the pods Iv had them to about 30 pounds and I felt they were about out of there fueling curve but that may have just been me. If you have the turbo I would give these a thumbs up I really like these injectors!

In the middle of project.

I know the turbo seems big but Id like to do some competetive local pulling in the hopefully 500hp range so I wanted a turbo plenty big enough to get me there.
Im just kinda doing things as they come but the next thing on the list KTA is to get all my pump work done and then Im gonna work on a clutch setup simaler to yours on Old Yellow.

My stockers carry my HtB2 to the gate at forty pounds and bent the needle on the 30lb guage with the H1C so I'm wondering if you have a leak somewhere. Your egt's seem pretty high as well. Mine is intercooled but cruisin at 70 with my H1c was only about 600-650 deg. I may be trying out a set of these tips, so I can get some results and dyno numbers with the big turbo.

Cade, I'd save your money. Sounds like they make/made 1 pound of boost more than POD's.

some big ones are on the way. I just figured I'd try a set of these to report on how they do and hopefully get another option out there for the guy's that want 300-350 cleaner burning horsepower.

I'm a bit confused--only 30psi with pods and 31psi with these tips? I could bury my 40psi boost gauge with the stock h1c/18 with stock non-ic injectors....for a couple hundred bucks, I'd be willing to give these a shot if I thought they delivered more than 1psi more fuel than pods....

Postby cumminsram » Mon Mar 05, 2007 5:30 pm

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At that point there was a possibility I had a small leak because I was forced to reuse a gasket between block and heater grid. Now there is a good gasket there but I had to take off the stock crossover to use a different one to fit my hx 50 and its not fully reassembled yet or I would have posted results. The injectors Im sure would have been able to put down some big boost. Also Im sure they would have made some better boost with a different driver I just hate to beat on my rig because it just kills me when she's down and she's that way often enough! Iv really liked them so far and in the next couple months Id like to buy another set.For the money there great. I really wish someone else would try them and get some results up to!
