Postby cumminsram » Sun Jan 28, 2007 12:45 pm

Does Anyone out there make custom ground fuel pins? For instance possibley one that would be worth more hp than the bully dog pin or the old smokey pin.
Thanks in advance.Jess

What does that entail. Do you just start taking some back in a v notch pattern? Did you get a better power curve by doing your own?

i experimented with it quite a bit, im not sure what the proper way was, i just started grinding and testing ended up making it worse then stared from scratch until i found what worked best.
here is one i did for a friend, dont know if this was the best profile but worked nice on his truck.

92D/UNIT- that is about what mine looks like. Mine has a little steeper profile on the lower end to cut smoke, but with a loose spring, it spools pretty well.

2stroke- the profile is what makes the power increase. You can start where ever you want- I even did one for a guy that started on the LEAN side, and went up to about the stock max. I start mine at about middle or a little toward the lean, then Dremmel it out til I like the side view.

Postby Flanra » Wed Jan 31, 2007 2:48 pm

Does anyone know where a fellow could get a spare stock pin?

I ground mine more like 92D did...except more agressive on the lower to mid section...sounds like how Daniel ground his.
Then I polished it a bit.
I'm sure I could go more, but it works pretty good as it IMO.

so the trick is to make the "cone" thinner so the pin in the pump can push out furthur for more fuel right? but on Wanna`s cone it looks like the pin may be allowed to ttravel even furthur?

wish i had a pic of mine to show you, but its pretty agressive i actually welded up the other side on the stock profile to make it steeper and deeper.
i know im a little extreme but when you only have so much $$ to spend and time on your hands with a shop full of tools you do that kind of stuff, at least i do

$100?! Thats crazy. Are they out of their mind? Wow what I would give to work in a machine shop again.... Do you think some cold rolled round stock would be good e'nuff to make a pin out of?
