Don't bother, BC847 is ditching the piston LP due to low psi. I think you will have more room to grow with the Aeromotive A1000 and Bypass Regulator.

Why not a second gen piston lift pump and a bypass regulator?

The 2nd gen LP regulated is what I'm dumping. Not that it doesn't do a good job, it's just that I'm moving out of it's league.

IMO, it will not reliably support the 6x18's (@ WOT). ;)

At this point in time, I'm running . . .

- Regular DDP4's (not the plus model).
- Typically maxed VE IP with a 3200 gov spring and Denny-T fuel pin
- The above is timed at about 2.25mm.

The current Lp system is . .

- AN6 supply from pick-up in tank to the IP.
- Stock/OEM 1996 CTD piston LP.
- Aeromotive bypass type regulator just before the IP.

As such I'm able to pull the fuel pressure down low enough that with getting off the fuel at the end of a pass, more often than not, the engine will die and need the injector lines burped to get it running again.

I think the 2nd gen LP regulated is an excellent choice for a mild to moderately fueled truck up to approx 350hp (in the general scheme of 1st gens).

I'm gonna go ahead and sneak in a Walbro 392 and be done with it. :)

so what your saying is even me putting the 2nd gen lp on with an electric one is just a waist of my time?

Running the two in parallel would work. I think that's what Wannadiesel does. The piston LP for regular driving, the Walbro for when he needs extra fuel. (Don't quote me on that).

What I said above is that the 2nd gen piston lift pump combined with a regulator (to keep from blowing the OEM IP seal) will support about 350hp.

Unless I'm sadly mistaken, the 6x18's are very much capable of MUCH more HP and will require more fuel than the piston pump alone can support. :)

The Airdog units are the way to go in my opinion. I run one and have a number of friends with them. I run 6-18's with a 14mm h/r and at idle the pump puts out 28psi and at WOT it puts out 28psi. I have had the truck over 115mph (on the gps) and it was still puttin out 28psi. If you want solid pressure, great filtration and lifetime its the way to go. I run a Airdog150 but a 100 would be good for most people. Also if you dont want to spend the cash just get a Raptor100. Its a solid amazing pump that has an adjustable regulator and lifetime warranty.

The low pressure piston LP helped me put down 450rwhp with stock fuel lines FWIW. All depends on what your end goal and use of the truck will be. Plus whether or not you intend on running a 14mm head and rotor.

Fergavs, where is your fuel sourcing? Stock pickup? Have you ever run a piston pump?
