parallel turbos

Postby fatty » Wed Mar 18, 2009 8:04 pm

would it be possible to run two turbos-say an he341 and stock h1c-on a 12 valve with one in the stock position feeding into the intercooler and the other with a crossover tube non intercooled? not compounds but with the he341 on the manifold and with a hotpipe to the h1c? the he341 would go to the intercooler like normal and the h1c would go over the valve covers into the intake manifold.

The problem with parallel turbos is getting them to feed evenly. Even with 2 identical turbos, you wouldnt always get identical airflow, much less with 2 different turbos. I think there would not be anything to gain, and may even lose some with your set up. I like the fact you're thinking outside the box, though.

Parallels can work when sized and valved properly. Look into the Seatek racing diesels they use parallels with good success. That being said I see no gain to running baby turbos like what you are talking about.
