Titanium valve spring retainers and hardened keepers

Postby bgilbert » Thu Mar 01, 2007 11:31 pm

I can get a set of Haisley's titanium keepers and retainers along with an extra set of 60lb valve springs for a decent deal. I already have the 60#er's in my 89, but stock keepers and retainers. I see Haisley, along with the rest of the country, raised their prices awhile back. One used to be able to get these for around $300 IIRC. Now add about $100 to that (set + springs). The set is brand new, never installed and I can get it for the price my buddy payed a few years ago. Figured I'd sell the 60#er's or install them in my 91.5, most likely not. Then install the titanium keepers and retainers in my 89. Can't hurt to lighten up the moving assembly eh? Is it worth it just for that? We know I won't ever turn more than 4k rpm.

I'll need the 60 springs should you choose to part with them. New right?

in my 440 spinning 7000 rpm, titanium made no difference in et. they should help with longevity of valvetrain parts. will they help anything on a motor shifting at 3800, i doubt it. will they hurt anything, no. this seems to me to be a mod more for piece of mind than anything else. i'll spend my money elsewhere on the diesel.

funny thing about titanium, when you pick them up, they feel like plastic

keep playing with that mercury and you'll need a third lens for your sunglasses  . also greatly affects the potentecy of your swimmers (hows that for a family website? 8) )

Yeah it's all new unused. I wish I could get him to trade for something. I like trade, it's cheap  .
