P PUMP INJECTORS ON A VE PUMP?????

Postby TOMTOM » Sun Mar 04, 2007 6:10 pm

Can i just swap a big set of nozzles out of a set of big p pump injectors? Do i have to set the pop pressure when i do this? DO I USE THE POP PRESSURE OF THE VE OR THE P-PUMP? I have a set of 215 stock injectors. Would thease be any bigger than my 40hp injectors? Gonna dyno this weekend would like to make a good showing.

I am pretty sure a ve will not run very long at p-pump presures. You can get bigger nozzles for your injectors but I'm not sure if they are the same as the p-pump units, I think they are but either way there arnt any cheap p-pump tips that would be big enough to make more then the pod's. 215's are smaller then the stock 1st gen injectors I believe.

I acctually had this conversation today with a friend of mine.
Basicaly, the 2nd gen injectors are a much higher pop pressure, and the VE just isnt capable of pushing 6 injectors with considerably higher pops then what we have available to us.

If youve got the time, n the dough (for a VE rebuild) im sure there are more then a few of us that'd like to hear your results! lol

The P-pump has 6 plungers compared to our one, so if the VE could even light the fire and keep it running, it just wont last long at all. maybe a day, maybe 10000 miles, that im uncertain.

Unless I don't understand the question, yes you can swap out the nozzles and then yes you set the pop pressure to the 245/260 bar. It's that easy.

You will, however have to locate a nozzle that will flow about the same as the 190's or POD's. Don't go backwards. Some have tried the P-Pump nozzle and it wasn't flowing.

Huh?

You guys are saying that it's possible to put 2nd gen tips on a 1st gen injector?

Then why isn't anybody running Mach 6's on their first gen? I think there's a huge market of 2nd gen tips bigger than POD's...

You get-it GREENLEAF.
VE 245 BAR, P-PUMP 260 BAR, 15 BAR (218 PSI) DIFF dosent seem like mutch. Do ve injectors use bigger holes than p's due to more pressure? Any way to tell what nozzles have what hole size by p/n? I think KTA used some 370 tips in one his trucks (from a p pump injector)?
Thanks for all comments. Anyone got any ? thoughts?

370's (5x.012) don't make quite as much power as a pod when set at ve presures. Mach 6's are for the 24 valve correct? I don't think they have the same tip. The only 12 valve injector that is much bigger then the the 370's are the ddp 4's. They cost way to much to be stealin tips off of. II and other companys make some bigger ones but agian $$$$ and I think 5x.018 are about as big as they get. I think the best route for 1st gen injectors are from New era diesel. He's cut a few set's of 370's now, he cut my 6x.018's and he is making a set for Daledozer now at 5x.018 I believe, He call's them his 435. His 370's are about the same price as pod's. Sounds like they are about the same power or a little less then POD's but have the correct pop pressure and don't smoke as much. He cut mine for about $400 less then some of the big name injector shops wanted. Dale and others please step in and correct me if I'm wrong on anything.

260 bar works real well for a VE. 245bar does ok.

The POD's are 260 bar. Advance the pump time up a bit to, say, 1.55/1.6mm plunger lift.

The pressures in the two pumps are a lot different than that. I was thinking VE: 250bar and P7100 was close to 350bar. Don't quote me on that.... can somebody straighten that up????

I think the VE from the factory is set to 245 bar. I agree with you, 260 bar seems too low for a P-Pump, since POD's pop at 260.
