Another turbo question

Postby cougar » Sat May 30, 2009 8:29 am

After reading other posts and signatures, The HX35's and HX40's will bolt up to an H1C's turban housing.

True? False?

Any other compressors out their will bolt up?

What do I need to adapt the "flange" on these turbos to the straight tube on the H1C?

35's will slide in there. 40 has a different size turbine.

Adapt? Yours is non-IC? I've never dealt with this. I'm sure somebody will pipe in on that.

It is intercooled. The H1C's have a straight tube coming off the compressor outlet were as those after have a flange.
I am hoping to get a little more air in without major changes to the down pipe. Unless there is a simple conversion available.
I'm trying to keep the $$$$ down.

If it's intercooled, there should be a flange that a 90* elbow is clamped to. The 35 has this same flange. At least my h1c has a flange.

The 89,90, and early 91 ( non i/c ) has the straight rolled bead boot connection that you talk about. Every 91.5 up I have seen has the flange with a v band clamp.

How are people adapting the larger flange turbos to the 89-93 trucks? 94 and after have a different angle on the down pipe and also most have wastegates that move the exit even further aft.

Oh! Who is GDS and HTT that has these 60mm wheels? Never mind, found them.

You can get a 60 mm GDS kit for the non ic style. You then need to adapt the outlet size to the stock cross over or build your own bigger cross over intake.
