for evryone who has swaped a getrag or helped swap a getrag into an auto, is it worth it or should i just beef up the auto. how hard is it and what problems did you run into.

this is if i can even find a getrag :lol:

rbrettctd and Tippin Spotted Cow also have done auto to 5spd conversions. At least I built a Getrag tranny for TSC a year ago...... Rbrett gained several MPG by ditching his auto- to the tune of 3-5, IIRC.

Oldcool90 did the swap into his 3.08 727 truck. I'm sure he'd never look back or regret it. IMO it's the best upgrade, and the only one for that matter, for the nonlock-up auto. Matt might jump in and tell the HP gain from auto to stick. IIRC it was good for 60hp to the ground on the dyno, auto to getrag.
