14mm update

Postby seeker1056 » Thu Jul 09, 2009 2:36 pm

after a slight bit of tuning, the Giles pump hit 4600 rpm at about 1/2 throttle in second gear

with the nature of the truck bein front heavy (loaded pullin truck) I didnt dare try to go any faster

this thing is nothin short of awesum!!

cant wait to get her on the track and see how it does under serious load

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

i have never heard any diesel, no matter how modified sound like this thing does, its extremely loud, and has a serious tone to the exhaust
not unlike a full race gasser motor

That's some serious RPM for a 14mm. What kind of lift pump/fuel system you running?

I would also ike to know what fuel system you are using. I just bought the 14mm h/r and wanna make it perform to potential.

When will you get a chance to dyno? Has giles made any progress on the 12mm pump?

like to know "what" holds??
fuel system, turbo, chassis, motor?

fuel system is set for 20 psi at the moment and never varies
turbo is manually wastegated to 50 psi and never varies
the chassis stood up to a full season of pullin without failure
motor - its in good shape so should be good for the season at least

first hook is next sunday, then there are hooks almost every weekend from then till October

the only real question is whether or not i can beat on the track, the chipped n stacked duramaxes, and Fords who are makin around 550-600 hp

I think when he said what it holds hes talking about what rpm it will stay at goin down the track with the sled behind it. As a matter of fact I would like to know also....

Ive been daily driving my 14mm pumped cummins duallie for a couple months now. It had about 3000 miles on it and I have probably put on about 60miles a day for those 2 months. I would say I probably have around 6000miles on it now. I love the 14mm, I get 20-24mpg and drive about 80-90mph all the time. In fact with the cam and timing as it is thats probably right were the peak is in my power band. I have taken my pump up to 3600rpm under load (no sled, just driving) and I know it hit between 4-4500rpm with no load (keep those boards handy lol!) When built right the pumps have no problem living a decent life. Its all about large volumes of air/dirt free fuel and big sticks.
