Man, who would've thought you could derail this thread any more without calling Levi gay....

Keeping with the skid steer talk, I'd pick a New Holland or Case over most. I'd like to get an L170 or bigger NH in the near future, but as usual, my wants and budget don't agree.

As practical as they can be I don't know if I'd ever get one. It just isn't something that's on my radar

I'd love to have one for plowing the driveway and handling firewood. I don't care if it has tracks or tires, but tire machines are cheaper to buy and keep up. A drive motor for a track machine is about $3k and the tracks are close to that each. And a Case would be preferred, I can get parts at cost. ;) No bobcats though, cheap POS.

Levi is gay. Just thought I'd throw that in for Hiney.

We've got a wheeled John Deere 8875 that we've had forever, it get completely abused and just keeps coming back. Good machine.

We had to get a tracked machine, we use it to clean under our stripping belt and its a slopfest out there at times. The wheeled machine is a waste of time at that point.

How do you like the Kubota? How has it been holding up?

The Kubota is nice, AC, heat, suspension seat, full cab, the list goes on.

It does have EGR, and you can feel it running out of power trying to maintain full speed up hills in high, but that thing is a monster when it comes to lifting/dragging/pushing stuff. It swings well above its size for that stuff, puts the old Deere to shame.

In other news, I've completed one side of my 64" swap. 1" lift, pinion angle is unchanged, and axle position is relatively unchanged. Running just two leaves out of the 4-leaf Chevy pack, it sits almost perfectly flat. I've got the overload thrown on top because my new ubolts were too long. I'll be looking for new shocks though, as apparently the stock ones are only good for about 1" past stock lift.

Finished up the rear suspension on the RC, bought a set of hydraulic shocks for it. Talk about under-damped.

I finally see the use in gas-charged shocks, these things don't stand a chance. I'm running just two leaves as it sits, and they're pretty much perfectly flat, so there's almost no real preload on them. Just cruising along on the road and hitting a bump, you can feel the axle jam up and pretty much leave the road. It settles down good enough, unless you hit another bump, but it moves way too easily from a static position. If the suspension is already moving and you hit a bump, it's pretty mellow.

I'm gonna swap these with those huh? Bilsteins on the Dodge and see if it settles it down, if not, I may be looking at a dual-shock setup or something.

I wasn't going to post any pics until I made my spring mounts all pretty, but it's been like 2 months and I haven't done sthi but run them.

Here's what it looks like when you put 64" chevy leaves on your RC.

I just hacked my body mounts for worst case scenario, my wheels aware about 3/4" too far forward in the wheel well still, but I don't care enough to take it all apart and cut new holes to bother. With the 37" the tires would hit the front of the wheel well at even a little stuff, but these 35" tuck right in there perfect. With my lift/offset they're into the wheel tubs way before they hit anything else now. Since the tubs sit right against the back seat, my only options are spacers/new wheels, limiting the up travel, or chop off the armrests and tub it. Think I'll limit the uptravel, since it's locked on both ends I'm not worried about lifting tires.

Image

Rears are DIY4x4 hangars/shackles, I got the fronts where they needed to be and just played with them until I got a decent shackle angle. I went a lot more verticle on them since I put the old dodge at 45* and it immediately sagged and rode like sthi. This thing is hella plush, but with only two springs it's still pretty under-damped. I've got to look into different shock options, I don't feel like fabbing up a dual shock setup.
Image

The springs sit pretty flat at ride height, I'm flexing a little there the way it's parked so it's negatively arched in the pic.

My dilemma here is that I'm still dealing with my busted, reversed-arch front leafs. I don't want it any taller, but fitting steerin/swaybar stuff in here is getting to be a nightmare. Here's some pics of where the front bar used to mount, I've given up on it and am just movin it to the back for now, but I've got to get something up here. There isn't room for much. =\

Image

I've got a new piece of DOM waiting to get bent for my draglink, there was a miscommunication when I ordered it and it wouldn't fit. I hacked until it did and it put my link end at a pretty crappy angle.

Image

Here's the rears tucking, you can see it's pretty close up front. Like I said though, it's all into the tubs way before it gets this far up. Then they just rub more as you flex up.

Swaybar is successfully on the rear and it drives rather nicely. Still not sure how the stock rear setup was able to keep it steady like it did, but this setup is about as good.

Rides way better but has just a little more flop to it. Once the swaybar realizes it's flopping it digs in and keeps it right there, but the initial sway is worse than stock.

I believe I'm happy enough to not change it.
