It's a step more exotic than the typical Holsets that most guys run, which accounts for the price. But, as far as efficiency goes, it's supposed to be da uber bomb.

If you really want to stick with a single turbo for 400+ horsepower, I think it'd be highly recommended. Don't know about the housing/ compressor sizes.

I would choose a S300 from www.htturbo.com before BD. BD tends to be on the conservative side of things.

What'd be the difference between the companies?

Are these modified turbochargers that we're talking about?

how much are they asking for the turbo? i thought the s300 was the same turbo as the bd 300.

Was running B-1 at or around the 300 mark and was dissapointed w/ spoolup. My friend was running one and went w/ the B-1 Garbage can lid Special its the SH--. Even quicker spool up than the smaller B-1. Well worth the money.

I am the one that ccoxva is talking about. I had the super-B and then upgraded to the special, spool-up was as good or maybe just a tad quicker than the little brother. This turbo is on my 97 BTW. I am over 500 hp now and the turbo keeps egts controllable.

With no other changes then just the turbo, I went from making mid 40's psi, to mid 50's with the special. Granted I was PUSHING the super B hard. I have lots of fuel and the w/g setting from the factory is the main reasons why I gained psi, 40 vs/ 50 settings from BD.

I dont think this is a conservative turbo at all, I havent experienced any surging, and it lights quick after about 12psi. I couldnt be more happier.

mrector- is that a 24valve manifold I see on your 97 12valve engine? If so, that could contribute to spooling issues. Get a matched manifold on there, and it may light at even less boost.

THANKS GUYS.. So it is a 64/14. is their anything special about it? can i get the exact same thing from some one else? just bought (for cheap) a super "b" it is a 57/14. to up grade it ill have to swap all but the exhaust housing. it seems to build more boost but dos not seem to come-on any sooner than my stock non w/g 18cm turbo.

1st queshtion: It has the extended tip compressor wheel, and I think this is why it spools alot like the super B, and still being much larger.

2nd : It shouldnt come on faster than stock w/18 housing, I originally put the super B on my 97 to replace the hx-35/12 w/g. Spool-up was a pig until about 1700-1800 rpms, I was totally unhappy with the spool-up until I relearned how to drive it. The special is as quick if not quicker spool-up than the smaller super B, with the same exhaust housing.

I would think that the super B would be enough for the fuel you have, now if you go any further with fuel, then a larger charger may be needed. I was at 441rwhp 998 tq with my super B on the 97 with no EGT issues, nice charger.
