64/14

Postby Underpsi » Mon Apr 23, 2007 10:21 pm

Would a 64/14 be too big for my truck? I plan on somehow getting bigger injectors. Just trying to figure ou where first. Dn't want to spend the money on the turbo and not be able to spool it up. It would prob be driven with the POD's for a while as well so it would have to be able to spool with them. What do you guys think?

Also who makes the best 64/14's?

You can probobly spool it alright. I put a 62-12 on with 300hp. It spools good but I wouldn't want any less fuel for it. If your not intending to go for the moon with power I'd go with a 62. It will handle anything a 12mm ve can throw at it.

Did you have pod's with the 62 when you first had it? I want bigger injectors I just think its gonna take me a while to get them so I want to be able to drive it with the pod's

No stock non intercooled. The pump is cranked though. Made 301HP with baby h1c with a 14 non gated housing and 319HP with the 62/12. Would run 1500 deg. on a long overdrive full throttle run with the h1c. The highest I've got the new turbo is 1050 deg. 40in. tires up hill on the floorboard and could not hit 1100. So my point being unless your planning to go huge in the hp department the 62/12 will cool it for you and be the most driveable.

If you spooled a 62/12 with stock injectors and you only had pyro temps of 1500 with the h1c I should be able to spool a 64/14 with pods and pegging a 1500 gauge in a matter of seconds

I think I'll get the 64/14 and just have to go around turboless for awhile if pods can't spool it lol. I don't want a smaller turbo now and the have to spend more money on a bigger one later.

Any preference between HTT, Industrial Injection and whoever else makes them?

I think they are the same chargers between II and HTT. HTT is cheaper on price too. Go to HTT's site and look up a dealer. The dealers will sell chargers cheaper than advertised on HTT's site. Make sure you get one of the 71 series, not one of the old HTB2 units. The HTB2's have the smaller 65mm turbine wheel vs. the 71mm turbine wheel in the 71 series- I think they call them. I have a SP66-14 with the small turbine wheel and I'm looking to upgrade. The HTB2's are basically a S200/S300 hybrid from what I've learned. S200 (baby s300) rear section, and S300 compressor wheel and housing. I'm sure KTA could elaborate more throughly, but like you said, spend the money once.
