Another Turbo Question......

Postby dakota farmer » Wed Dec 02, 2009 1:32 pm

My dad built a turbo for his pickup.....he is taking the guts out of an 8.3 turbo and putting them into his 5.9 turbo. He had his 5.9 housing spooned out to fit the 8.3 parts. He is doing this on a 2001 Dodge. I was just curious if this would be a good option for my 93. I am still learning alot about these turbos and doing a lot of reading. Thanks Guys

Sounds like he is doing a HX35/HX40 hybrid, should not need to get anything "spooned" out. The wheel should fit the shaft of teh 35 and teh housing bolt right up. It is a pretty good towing set-up.
