Well, yeah! You won't get enough air and the EGT's will go thru the roof. Plus it won't have any power with not enough air to burn the fuel.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

But yes it will smoke like a freight train if u do that. Have a go at it and let us know how it all works out lol. I here these pistons make great ash trays.

Why wait until gauges?

Dont be dumb! The reason you need gauges is to watch the EGT's. With no air being FORCED in, they would skyrocket!

Lemme explain the litte (big) spinny thingy on the exhaust.

Hot air (exhaust) goes thru it and spins the fan. Now the fan pushes air into the engine, free of charge. Now you disconnect the intercooler line and NO air is going in, the engine now has to SUCK the air in.

Now for a free power mod for you, take a 1" rubber hose, run it from the cab to the air filter and blow into it. Maybe relieve the air inside you....

Get some gauges and then add power. Smoke will come with power. All our trucks smoke ( some more then others ) but that was not the goal. The goal is power, smoke is a side effect.

Want I like giving diesels abad name smoke? put a trash bag over your airfilter and tape it shut with duct tape. Then poke a little hole in it, should work great at making a smoke machine out of your truck.

As you can see, your not going to get much love asking how to make smoke. Don't get me wrong, my trucks smoke bad, its just not what we are about. ( well, sometimes tailgaters get the coal ) We try to be good when everyone is watching and roal smoke when we can get away with it.

Yeah, all you have to do is puke out tons of black smoke and the state assemblyman following you will be passing a law for mandatory emissions inspections.
That's how it happens too. The wrong person sees the wrong thing, and everybody gets boned.

I usually smoke tailgators. And my friends, who are usually tailgating! But they ain't right anyways! ;)

So do you guys think that you are ever going to melt a piston with no turbocharger attached, regardless of what the pyrometer may be reading?
