Injector advice?

Postby KRB64 » Mon May 07, 2007 7:57 pm

Looks like I'll be needing some new injectors (OK, read "wanting" new injetors). http://www.dieseltruckresource.com/dev/ ... p?t=149933

I was thinking 190s but I'm not up on this. What about EDMs? What else is out there?

Not looking for smoke. Just need HP and MPG. Dauily driving and towing.

What say ye?

i have 185's in mine a really like them. i've read there's not much difference in the 185's and 190's but i defer to the experts on this. i do tow some (up to 10k or so) and don't have heat problems. mileage is about the same as stock injectors. you'll be happy with the change.

as for buying, i picked mine up second hand so i'm not much help there. all the usual diesel shops list 185's, 190's, and i saw 210's listed somewhere.

190's are good. Mark at PDR was trying to talk me into some. Better mileage, more power. There are more, smaller holes than stock, so you get better atomization.
By the way, I went to 370's. :D

I have Bully Dog +50s. I don't know if they are still available. I get the same mileage as with the stockers provided I drive sanely, and they didn't smoke much at all till I started grinding on the fuel pin :D

The local Cummins shop here wants $695 for a set of "40hp Bosch injectors" whatever that translates in to. Stockers are $152 each.

This guy on ebay has them for $355.

That who I got my pod's for my dually from. Cheapest I could find too. I called back later to get the adapters for my non I/C head and he was really friendly. I wouldn't hesitate to deal with them again.

He's got a 100% positive feedback. Was there anyway to tell if the injectors you got were the injectors you wanted? Model numbers etc? Like are they performing as expected?

These're the same for half what the Cummins place wants. From what I can tell they are the "190s".

I'm staying away from the PODs I think. I'm worried about EGTs when towing/hauling. From what I've gleaned I think the 190s are best for my setup.

I located my bad injector (I think) pulled it and its a Bosch. Says "937" inside an oval border. Up top is has "8965". Also says "KDAL 59 P 9 171 245 bar"

I pulled an injector from my brother's donor and its the same except instead of "171" it has a "266" and the copper washer is thinner. I was going to use this until I got new ones but since its not identical I don't think I should.

Anybody know what these numbers mean? :? ! And what'll happen if I use it with the other 5 "171"s? :?:

Ask Scott, (Greenleaf) he has the book with the numbers. He can tell you the difference. Or you could swap them all for now.

Well I got the 190s and they are in and running. Only prob is getting the lines to quit leaking :x . May be my imagination but I think its running quiter. The RPMs are down by 50.

Ordered a 3200 spring too but will wait a little while to install.

Thanks fot the tip Toombs
