Master Power turbos (?)

Postby dpuckett » Mon Jun 04, 2007 1:11 pm

I also posted this on the TDR....

Anyone heard of them? PDR has them on sale, and it has a 66mm impellar wheel, 16cm ex hsg, and an A/R ratio of .7. Is this good, bad, indifferent? I have a reman H1C that is so-so, and if I start towing soon (may take hay west to TX and OK), I dont want to be down to 40mph on every hill because of my EGT.

I can hit 1400deg/ 34psi with 2/3 throttle & stock injectors (cleaned and reset last week, so they arent the culprit). Pump flows 160cc. My turbo has some up and down/ side to side slack, and makes a screeching/ squealing noise at 22+ psi boost or so. It isnt the same noise as the last head gasket, though i'm not ruling that out, with my luck. I have tried a ported 18cm, and a ported 14cm housing, and though the 14 was a little slower for EGT to rise, there is essentially no difference on the top end.

1st gen heads are notorious for not flowing well. A 66mm turbo is pretty big, and it would probably take a long time to spool. I think something a little smaller, like a 62mm S300 variant, would be better.
