Mileage??

Postby seeker1056 » Wed Jun 06, 2007 1:19 pm

Ok, so I dont have overdrive, and i have 3:50 gears on a 33" tire.

Untill I changed injectors I was gettn 12-14 per Canadian gallon.

Post - change I was getting 17-18.5 depending on driving

Added 2 stroke oil this week and am now knockin down 19.5 mpg by the look of it.

Is this good, bad or indifferent?

Thanx

I think if you are increasing your MPGs, you cant be wrong. I am amazed you can get that kind of MPG with the tires and a 3spd auto with your gearing.

I've been running an average of a quart of used oil or used ATF per tank since the beginning of the year, and immediately noticed a difference. Not sure how it may be affecting the mileage, but the engine sure seemed to run better/smoother after I started doing that. Noticed it right away. Currently running the stuff that came out of the Getrag a couple months ago. I'll be doing all the waste oil recycling in the Cummins myself from now on.

Have you seen my waste oil filter?

I'm back up to 18mpg around town. Thats a 2-4 gallon jump just by changing injectors. 8)

Whats the purpose of burning waste oil? Lubricity to the fuel for the pump or increase in btu's???

Waste Oil Filter

That filter may be the most cost-effective environment-friendly, VE-friendly thing you can do with your truck. It's only about $20 of PVC, clamps, glue, and uses a toilet papet element that wil probably last a year or more before it clogs up. The VE loves the extra lube, filters great so no worries about pump seals or filter clogging on the truck, and you don't have to worry about taking the old oil in to a recycle place somewhere anymore.
