Gauges??

Postby seeker1056 » Wed Jun 06, 2007 1:23 pm

How many out there have both boost and drive pressure guages?

How many have twins of some description?

How many could post the drive/boost pressures at say 1800, 2200, 2800, 3200 rpms?

Thanx
Ken

1. I do
2 I do
3. No I can't boost and drive pressure is dependent on load not engine rpms.

  As if our engines operate at variabe loads...

I imagine that this would be a WOF sort of question...

hmm

I have a digital tach, and the egt, boost n drive guages are all in a line in front of my face - I can tell u exactly in each gear what the drive, boost, egt is, part throttle, medium and full throttle for any rpm.

The correlations are very interesting.

For example 2 stroke oil gave me more boost and faster, and more equal boost/drive ratio from 2:1 down to 1.75 and 1.5 depending on throttle.

Part throttle and medium throttle is about 1.7:1 drive/boost eg 35/50

Full throttle is 2:1 till about 30 psi, then is about 1.5:1 from there to 50 psi boost

I also noticed yesterday in wet, very cold weather, boost and drive were almost 1:1 at part throttle, and max 1.5 under full throttle in any gear

This has me thinkin about full time water/meth, and full time runnin of my water air intercooler. Maybe I will set up relays on boost switches.

At cruise at 75mph which is 2000rpm I run about 6psi boost and 6psi drive. At a greater load like uphill I run 10psi boost and 9drive. At full boost with my wastegates wide open I run 74psi boost and 76psi drive. Pulling a trailer uphill I can hold about 40psi boost and 38 psi drive. My drive pressure does not exceed my boost till over 55psi, then my wastegate opens and it stays roughly 1-1 till max.

holy cow batman -

I am at 2070 rpm at 50 mph 2600 rpm at 62 mph and 3370 at 70 mph

350 gears no overdrive, so topped out at 70 mph.

At 50 mph I have around 5 lbs boost 8 lbs drive, 60 mph is about 9 lbs boost 14 drive, 70 mph is 15 boost and 20 drive on the level road.

So it is equally apparent that I need to find my drive pressure issues if your runnin better than 1:1

Hell I would be happy with like .8:1

wow ;o)

Keep in mind my twins are ALOT bigger than yours. My manifold turbo is almost as big as your HX55. When I was just running my manifold turbo and making 480rwhp it used to run 50psi boost and 64psi drive max. It would run right at 1-1 drive to boost till about 38psi then it would start to go imbalanced and drive would be higher than boost.
