They are made by Borg Warner (Schwitzer). S300 and S400 are the names of the frame or series of the turbo. For example an S300G is a 57mm s300. Companies like Industrial Injection or High Tech Turbo, etc. take these and put bigger compressor wheels/housings or exhaust wheels in them from other turbos in the S300 series. If someone says they have an S362, they mean an s300 with a 62mm compressor wheel. The S400 series is a heavier framed line of turbos than the S300 line. Saying you have an S471 means an S400 with a 71mm compressor wheel. Different companies modify all of these turbos, but I think most start with stock Borg Warner parts.
