who rebuilds ve pumps?

Postby PRINCETON_JAKE » Thu Nov 11, 2010 7:11 pm

I have a spare VE pump i would like to have "built" before i start calling around, does anyone know where to get a VE rebuilt and modified? Also what should i have done to it, or i guess what can be done? I have read a little about 14mm rotor/heads, and also bigger advance shims, but i thought i read they cant be used together, and they wornt reliable.

A buddie of mine that bought my other 89 off me put some bad fuel in and blew his injectors and pump. He bought a rebuilt pump and got his sticks fixed for 1,800 bucks and the truck never left the garage due to that one exploding in the driveway. That was 2 months ago and I think his truck is still there as the injection shop says " O well, but we will fix it for you for another grand." I guess his warranty had expired when he left the injection shop with it under his arm.

I can get it done cheaper and may can pass it on to ya'll if there is interest. I'd have to call and make sure with the pump shop if its ok ,or not, with them. The shop name is Mylex International in Mendinhall Ms.

Here's the link to the website.
http://www.mylexinternational.com/

Check out the pump prices. I've used them for about the last 9 or so years with no problems.

Well the price is good but basically that does not include and hard parts that may be needed. If they just reseal a 300,000 mile pump and sell it , its still a 300,000 mile pump, just with a $25 seal kit. :D

After hurrican kitrina all that we could get was off road red diesel. I was the lucky guy to get mostly water. They built mine and replaced the head and some delivery valves. It cost me 650. That was five years ago. Oh and what says that your not getting the same for a bloated price.

Get there number off of the site and ask for shawn. He's a stand up guy and won't BS you. All he deals with is Cummins.

I just don't see why the price is so high up there. I guess they can charge more north of the Mason-Dixon line or something.
One thing I don't get is what happens to the old parts out of the pumps. Do any of u get them back. I never have and for me its hard to deal on good faith.

The price is higher because the labor is higher. Like I tell my buddy everytime one of his guys ruins something, "If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys!"

Ellis, I have a hard time trusting anybody to fix things for me anymore. I just don't trust anybody. When I have to send something out, like to the pump shop, I cross my fingers I don't have a problem with it. I have had good luck with my shop, where I work does quite a bit of business there and they are reputable and decent guys. I still don't want to spend $6-7-8-1100 to get my pump fixed, I don't have the money to do it.
