pod injectors non ic in an ic truck

Postby fourwheelininajeep » Tue Dec 14, 2010 2:52 pm

I have a set of pods that I got for my 90. Im going to better quality injectors as I dont like the smoke and outrages egts but I want to know if they will fit in my brother in laws ic 93.

I read a thread a minute ago about no ic injectors not working in an intercooled truck because of the bowl in the piston being wrong for the fuel spray. If this is true the fuel atomization would probably be terrible and not help him build more power at all. Im assuming that is all that means, if someone could elaborate more on what would happen I would appreciate it.

If they are 7mm nozzles they`ll fit fine but still have all the POD drawbacks.
It`s not about how hard ya hit...it`s about how hard ya can GET hit and keep movin forward.

i belive that pods only came in the 7mm option to put them into a non i/c truck you had toget adapters

Try putting them in the IC truck, if they fit they are 7mm. If not they are 9mm. Or you could measure them, or you could see if there are adaptors to make them work in your 90.

Don't " always " go on if they had the adapter or not. It would not be the first time I have heard of guys running a 7mm injector in a 9mm head with no adapters. They say " it will carbon up in no time ". 8)

Adapters are not "required", soot build up between the nozzle shank and bore may increase the amount of effort needed to pull them from the cylinder head however. The POD is 7mm shank, the problem is they use a 160 degree cone angle, which is not ideal for the smaller Non I/C piston bowl design.

I think you got that backwards. The NON-IC engines have the big bowls for the 155 deg injectors and the IC engines have the small bowls for the 145deg tips.
