How to make it go fast

The 435's are definitely less smokey than POD's, and most say the power is comparable. 400 HP seems to be the point that most injection pumps run into the wall.

The 370's are very clean running as well, and most say that they're good for low 300's HP range.
Although recently a certain Pete Toombs got 366 HP with 370's, so that kind of throws the traditional rationale a 30+ HP curve ball.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

What did you have done to the pump at that dyno test?

Turned it 1/8 for timing, and turned the screws in, ground the cone, star wheel on the bottom. Oh, 3200 spring too.

I am curious as to how the 5x12 and 5x14 edm's stack up against pod's though. I know my pod's are a very primitive injector, and I'm wasting a good bit of fuel. Do the edm's hit the bowl and burn better? I always thought they were a grand plus, but after seeing some of the prices here, might have to get em some.

when you are looking at inj you have to figure out what the total cross sectional area of ea inj is.

pods (4x14) are .000615"

the stg III's you were referring to (5x12) are only .000565"

yea, you will be taking a step backwards. i have a old set of pods and just tried some 5x12 edm's for comparison sake. lost power, mileage didnt change, just lost power. what does that say about pods? mine were from bd over 10 yrs ago. i have heard others talk about bad mileage with pods so i dont know if the newer ones are not as good as the older or if they just didnt adj their driving tech?

don

ps - i have also heard that a edm'ed hole is bigger inside the inj or tapered rather and that this means it sould flow more: bs - it about cross sectional area - and that is all, imo

5x14 is .000769" (almost 16% larger than pods)

6x18 is .001526" - 300% larger than a pod - enough fuel to shut your motor off if you roll on the throttle before it is warm

  Hmm
I'd like to try a set of hogged out POD's. Take those 4x14's to 4x20's, 22's,25's   burn the sac out hmmm..?? I wonder how much Old Smokey had his POD's opened up when he made 600+hp.

guess that would depend on whose dyno he did it on...
