New idea

Postby swank » Sun Feb 21, 2010 12:11 pm

I realized that maybe we could build a network of folks across the country who could each travel a little ways and move something a long ways. What do you guys think?

it would be a lot nicer than having to run accross country to pick something up, maybe have it setup with phone numbers addresses and get a good movement going maybe one part east to west while another part west to east?

Well, I wasn't think express, that's for sure. I have something that doesn't need to get here particularly fast but would be real expensive to ship (i.e., transmission, axle, etc).

Anyway, just an idea...

In the past I have volunteered to be a FAIR WEATHER transfer point [no snow on the ground or pending electrical storms or tornadoes]. I would need to know a few days in advance of the transfer due to things like doctors appointments etc. Neither I nor my property would not be responsible or accountable in any way for any loss or damages during the transfer process. I request that both the person dropping off the item and the person picking it up both be present. I do not want the liability of something setting here waiting to get picked up. I can painlessly handle a complete 6BT assembly with the transmission and transfer case attached. Palletized items are easier. I am located in southwest corner of Pennsylvania just 12 miles east of interstate 79 [runs north to south], 12 miles north of WV interstate 68 [runs east to west], and 30 miles from interstate 70 [runs east to west].

I make regular trips from Indiana to OK.

I hauled an engine down to OKC for Randy's welding last year. Normally I drive the wifes car down. It isn't any harder to drive the truck with a load.

Maybe someone can make this a temporary sticky so it doesn't get buried and forgotten about? That way we can see if this idea pans out....

hey-Hey!!!,
I'm in SE Michigan and often travel to SE Pennsylvania. Other destinations include SE Ohio, Indy or Northern Vermont. Count me in FWIW, travel plans can sometimes be modified/adjusted. PM or email for contact; I might not see the post reply/request.
cheers,

Is this a not for profit idea or ? I've got a truck in the Denver, CO area I maybe picking up in the near(er) future. I have a 20+5 14k gooseneck I would take out there to haul the truck back. I'd like to get something going that direction to help with the funds   ..

I'm going to say that we keep it not for profit here on the forums, but if you make deals, who's to say, right?

If it's for profit there probably won't be many takers but, if your headed somewhere anyway, I would be glad to help pay for fuel.
For every $50 you can drive a 15 mpg CTD 250 miles or so.
