Those aren't distractions, Pete, they're obstructions. ;)

My current distraction is named Buell XB9S. Kinda sad that completely stock it's faster than anything I've ever owned. I tried to get Hineman to run against me in his truck but he was too scared. :P

Anyways, it's my first bike so needless to say I'm pretty enthralled with it. I finally took a spin on my cousin's Electraglide Classic after I rode mine for a few days. I'm glad I never rode a Harley for my first time, I doubt I would have ever bothered getting a bike. That thing was like trying to wrestle a damn garbage truck across the road.

Shit man, they're pretty cheap bikes to pick up IMHO. I got mine for $2800 with 17k miles on it and all that's wrong with it is a nasty bump in the frame/tank on the right side. I thought about buying a set of covers to throw over the damage, but I just spent the $$ on a helmet instead. I can't see it while I'm riding it so it doesn't make any difference to me.

Here she is. I deleted the fender bracket and did a couple other things here and there. Once I stop riding it so much I'm gonna pull the muffler off, clean it up, and throw some paint on it.

And Jon if you find one keep in mind they're not huge bikes. Mine is the XB9Scg model which means it's really short. I don't know how tall you are but I'm about 5'10" and I can flat-foot both feet with my knees bent a bit on this bike. If you're much taller I'd recommend finding one that is normal height. Here's a pic (the last one in my thread, I swear) of it with my cousin's Harley:

That is with my stilettos on, of course. I always wear them when I ride. :P

The doc's scale said 5'9" last time I was there, admittedly that was a very long time ago, but I just tack on an extra inch for the boots.

Alex, I still totally dig that bike of yours, but I can't deny my love of listening to a Harley engine at idle. The Buell seems to be the best of both worlds. It sounds like a Harley without the required vests, chaps, glasses, bandannas, and "brotherhood". Hell, most Harley guys won't even do their little wave-thing at me. When my cousin leads I can scavenge the wave from him since their hand is already out, but when I'm in front they wait until I go by before they wave at him.

On topic, I drove the truck to work again today and it both started and didn't leak/catch on fire. One night is more than enough for me to call my repair a success. 8)

I once had the infamous VE return line crack and it was POURING fuel.
Of course, you just KNOW it had to crack near the bracket behind the pump.
Fortunately it broke on the pump side of the bracket, so I was able to force a short length of washer squirter line onto the one end and I eliminated the bracket on the other section.

It never did leak again, I never replaced it and Pulltilbroke got the engine.

I was sitting under my hood, bragging to my mom about how this is why I drive one of these old, all-mechanical trucks. (She was highly impressed) You can fix them anywhere, with just about anything you have laying around in your cab.

It then occurred to me that if I hadn't messed with the truck in the first place it would have never happened. Maybe that's why I started driving a mechanical truck, then my need to meddle gradually shifted my reasoning from general reliability to ease of licking my calf again when one of my mods came back to haunt me.

I also ended up having to borrow one of her screwdrivers to get he hose clamp off. Turns out they make pink screwdrivers.

Guess I know what Hineman is getting for his birthday.

Shanaynay, I haven't heard that in a long time! I knew she got around, but even Ellis knows her!

I didn't know they stacked siht that high! I rode my buddies Harley, but it wasn't a fair test. His was all done up and would run with my other friends '89 ZX10. I was kinda impressed when we turned a corner, I twisted the throttle on the ZX10, and 3 gears later I looked over and he was right there. 8)
I'd like a Buell too. It's a nice cross between a Harley and a sport bike.

Alexs bike looks frigging brutal to ride very far.

Even higher, Pete, Hineman is even taller than me!

I love the look of Alex's bike. Mostly how it's so old-school in the middle but with the new-style fat forks and swingarm in the back. That seat does look questionable for any real riding though.
