Essentially as most of us know, the low pressure pumps over the counter have a smaller piston and therefore move a lesser volume of fuel than the 2nd gen high pressure pumps.
Unfortunately no manufacture or diesel shop has made or has had made a true low pressure high volume piston pump. The one from Cummins is the only one that actually pushes the sought after 14-15 psi and that thing is well....expensive to say the least.
We have had some springs manufactured and have done some testing. So far the testing has been done on my pump and set up.
As of now we have a 20 psi pump if interested, and I am running a 13.5-14 psi pump right now, Kyle will be testing the last which should put it right at 15 psi.
On my set up I could pull the 20 psi pump set up down to about 12 psi... maybe 10 on a long run.
As of right now with the 13.5 psi pump I can pull it down to about 9 psi on a long run. As expected when you lower the psi the overall volume will drop SLIGHTLY this is due to the fact that the lesser spring doesn't push the fuel piston back as fast against the cam lobe.
In short, when available (soon). The kit would include a Genuine Carter lift pump that has been modified to a lower psi, a supply line (if needed), a spacer, and 2 gaskets.
