Stock injector = how much HP

Postby D-dog357 » Wed Jan 16, 2013 10:16 pm

Just wondering what kind of HP can the stock injectors make with out stressing the IP?

I know the more we turn up our pumps the more power we get at the cost of decreased IP life with small/stock injectors. So what's a happy medium ?

Ya I realize the turbo makes a difference too.

So with a stock H1c if I put a 16cm on it ?

How about with a stock HX35 off - say a '96 ?
'92 ex-cab, A/T, 3.56, timing bumped 1/4" , 366 w/ fuel 1/2 turn past collar, smoke all the way out and a ported HX hot side. Airbox and core support drilled for more cold air.
A no budget work truck.

Non intercooled injectors flow more then intercooled sticks. What year is your truck? This may help.

He is asking the perfect question. At what point are the pressures still in check?

With i/c injectors and an hx35 (or equivalent), fuel pin, average timing bumps, etc.... One should be able to safely reach 1200 egts and 30-32 psi and still be ok. This generally is a fairly hopped up, but not to runaway by any means by my experience with every truck I've been around. And this makes a very spunky, fast revving, pulling animal of a truck... of course that's if you have a 5 speed and not a stock auto.

With a non i/c truck..... well you can crank her up allot.

Oh,.... side note. If it is an i/c truck.. if you even look at that power screw your fuel shut off solenoid will cease to work. But, that has no bearing on what the other internals can take.

I made 197hp 577torque w stock sticks your basic pump work and 9cm housing hx35 this was at Schied this past year turns out that was at zero fuel pressure just didn't seem to be runing right and I felt that was a low number when I got home I changed lift pumps and the one I dynod w had the lever broken internally and had absolutley no pressure hmmm lol

FWIW, Scheids dyno is a low reader.

Stock sticks, turbo (18cm housing), DennyT 1 pin, 4200rpm spring, aftermarket air filter of some kind netted me a best of 15.xx in the 1/4 putting me around 260 RWHP. Non boosted launches too.

Well, 300 can be done with factory i/c stick

400 can be done with factory non i/c sticks

But I'd say 225-250 is reasonable without trying to kill everything with factory i/c sticks, and 275ish goes for the same with non i/c sticks.

I never dynoed my pile but after 4yrs with the fuel maxed on the screw(did not runaway)my truck still runs a FS that works. But I dont sidestep the fuel from full throttle either.

maybe on a very high reading dyno. i think on your average dyno those numbers are pretty unlikely. from what i've seen low 300's are possible with non-IC's. who knows, maybe i'm completely wrong, but i perused the dyno thread and didn't see power numbers anywhere close to 3 and 4 respectively

I made 283/512 on stock injectors, stock trans, the usual pump tuning, and a 62/65/12. I'm quite sure with a manual or built auto I could have easily gotten 300+ HP.
