245bar but I had an issue with the shims, bought the wrong ones and had to use some various thickness small machine washers. Kinda iffy, but I wanted to see where I stood later using them, but since I'm popping them myself it'snot going to cost me anything

Silly deal this morning....its about 10° warmer this morning and the haze is not there, now its all smell  smoke is down but I think mostly that's contributed to no load hanging off the rear hitch.
Today I do as taco and BC suggested and see what happens,I might put the stock pin back in as well after I screw with the star wheel some.

The more fuel you add to the cylinder, the more heat is required. Meaning on a hopped up truck they will and can haze after fully warmed up just by sitting at an idle too long.

My point is a temperature difference of 10 degrees will make or break your haze on a hopped up pump.... Wait til you have it maxed out with big sticks and it is below freezing out.

Well there's two thing right there RC that I wont have maxed pump and big sticks,I might have the slightest chance to meet freezing temps but doesn't happen often down here.

Ok..... we'll see in a couple years, LOL. The point is, once you start adding more fuel.... you'll usually get some haze.
But if it is at an idle or a constant speed then it is timing, heat, or injector issues... if it is under acceleration, then it is a starwheel issue (assuming air and timing are correct with the appropriate load).

And the more fuel you add, the more exact all these things need to be in order to cure it.

Mine hazes at idle when cold, if I drive it around easy, it still hazes. If I get on the highway or pull a load, no haze. Like RC said, you gotta get it warm to get rid of it.

IMO, you screwed up and put the .040 washers in it. My 370's came with the .040's, I went thru the drawer at work and we had some .020's, so I bought 6 and put them in on install.

Edit, Ellis I reread your posts, and it wasn't clear, haze at idle or driving?

Haze at idle Mr Pete, smoke while under load(more load than truck alone) while being conservative with the throttle,no jack rabbit start. If I keep the turbo screaming its a light blueish gray haze, ease off the throttle and all stops, crowd it and your blotting out the road.....it's very impressive how people respond to meeting the cloud of black smoke while they're tailgating you, used it not even an hour ago to get some clown off my bumper  I'm hopping that tightening up the afc spring as taco said will lessen the smoke enough for me to navigate traffic load and not looking like some early 80's freightliner. Plus mpgs are gonna suck

Not to open a huge can of worms again, but aren't 7 hole injectors a different spray angle than stock intercooled? I'm betting the timing bump gets rid of the idle haze.
I'm a big advocate of the AFC switch because it gives the option for the truck to be sporty or conservative when EGTs and smoke matter, but that's just my opinion.

Did you get the highway salute? I had that very experience the last time I was wanting to merge over a lane on an 8 lane road. The fellow got the message and I got the bird. Wonder why. And fuel economy won't suck nearly as bad as you'd think.

Nope, these are supposedly 145°spray angle, one of the deciding factors in me buying them.

No I'm sure something happened but it was dark back there looked thru all that black cloud

I told you to turn the spring up way back in the 5th post! I still think the washers will mostly cure the idle haze, at least when warm.
I'm not impressed with smoke, except for tailgators, too. It is pretty amazing how fast they disappear, literally and figuratively, when a big cloud comes out.

I know you did,I was talkin about the way he said to do it watching for the spring to bind at full pin travel. I figure that will give me a good starting place

Gotcha! I'd just spin it up and keep trying it, but I like to do things 3 and 4 times. (remember my trans? )

Here's a side note for other cheap skates like myself. Ellis talking about getting 12 injector washers made me think of it.

You can re-use copper sealing washers. You simply slip a hunk of heavy wire through them (I use a coat hanger) and heat them with a torch till they're evenly red hot, careful not to get too carried away. Let them air cool and clean them. IIRC - it's called annealing.

If your like me with more time then money - it gets the job done.

Ive seen airplane mechanics do that at work. Its kinda neat but also makes me worry.

I was told heat them and drop them in water. I used to do it with dirt bike head gaskets all the time.

Andy, why worry? all it does is soften up the metal so they are pliable again.
