It changes advance according to the weight of the flyweight, the tension of the spring(s) and the length of the slots the advance weights are limited to.
Changing the tension of the spring and the flyweight's density regulates the timing curve.
Manufactured properly, the springs could serve to help dampen the pump's mechanical action.

Yep.....exactly. Also, the quicker the truck would rev up (hard accelerating) the more it would advance it as well.... which would work perfectly, it would advance off of load put on it via throttle even more than rpm.

Alright, gentlemen. (I use that term loosely), I'm in need of some map reading help. I'm trying to figure out if the M112 blower will be capable of feeding the HX52 without a bypass. I don't think it will, but something just seems fishy...

Here's the maps I could find...

A "Generation 5" M112 map. Mine is apparently a Gen4, but I have yet to dig up a map for them.


And the "super" HX52 map. I figure mine just doesn't have the huff up top, since that seems to be the main difference between the 40 and the Super40.




now then, as far as I can tell they're both in metric so that makes that easier, but I'm still somewhat scratching my head. As an example, It looks like the max output of the blower is 62cm3/m, and if I'm going to be 'gating the HX at ~40 psi then it'll be moving around 60cm3/m itself, correct? However, that's at atmospheric, and I get the blower moving at 1.5 atmo then will that affect the HX's output? Wil it bump me down to a 2.0 PR even though it's still moving 40psi?

I'm going to attempt to sort these thoughts out a little better and ask over on CompD, but I don't want to get beat up for not having my sthi together. I've never read a map before.

I only ask this question because they say this blower moves as much air as an HX40, but in a set of compounds an HX40 and '52 are too close together to be a good set. Why then wouldn't this blower be able to feed the '52 without straining itself?

I realized I'm basing my turbo compressor map placement off of essentially nothing. I have no real way of knowing where on the map it'll be at 2.5PR since I'm missing a variable. I'll figure out what I'm missing, wheel speed I think, and try it again but I don't see it working at all without a bypass.

I don't have to learn the hard (expensive) way when there already math problems that can start me on the right foot. I said nothing about it being easy, just not a surprise. I don't care what goes wrong as long as I have a direction to head to fix it without having to bother people that have already done it.

I'm getting a little better handle on my math, I've snuck into the office and got some answers down on actual paper. If I can get ahold of some potential flow numbers from some companies that port those blowers, this may not seem as hopeless as I thought.

Fine, right after we talk about reading comprehension. That would come into play pretty early on, in a post where I explain this truck is simply a time-burner for me. This far I'd say it has performed it's job rather well, same as this thread.
