Where I live, when I ask why they didn't stop at the stop sign, they ask me "What Stop Sign?" to which I reply "The one you'll miss when yo run into me someday!" which usually gets a rude reply.

Basically, if you come to Palmyra, Nebraska, be forewarned that there is a Stop Sign violation policy, which states that if you actually STOP at the Stop Sign, it is mandatory that you be cursed and yelled at for obeying it.
Then there's those who WAIT for people to run the Stop Signs and gun the hell out of the car to scare the runner.
Said people are equally as evil. :bom:

No :(

Gonna have to wait a while to get it done, all my tools, etc are at my old place, since the garage is alot more secure there than the new garage. Once I get some stuff done (security measures), I will start moving the important tools and stuff over. Kinda paranoid about my tools...spent a minor fortune on all that stuff, hate to have it all get stolen.

Got my tachometer working properly, this truck has some long legs with the NV4500 and 3.07's. At 55mph, it's turning only 1350 rpm's, and at 70, it's only 1650. Got about 300 miles on this tank of fuel, gonna run it to work one more day and fill it, check and see what kind of mileage this turd is getting.

Run in 4th as much as possible.
How tall of tires are you running?

I am running 305/70 17's..about 34 inches tall. I run fourth gear until I know I can sustain 55mph or above.

Okay.
I'm wondering if ~31" tires (235-85-R16s) will screw that engine a few hundred RPMs tighter.
The last thing I want to do is pull a moderate load and lug my mileage away going down the road, much less rattle the schit out of that poor rear 3.07 pinion.
I'd considered a taller tire and 3.54s, unfortunately, I don't have a 3.54 front axle laying around anymore. :(

I can't go any shorter on tires without it looking goofy, as it has a lift on it, somewhere between 2-4". I have considered a D80 3.54 rear when the D71 craps out and swap out the D61 for a 60.........but then again, this truck isn't set up to pull anything right now, it doesn't even have a reciever hitch on the back.

FYI, you can re-gear the 61 with 3.54 gears.
If I were a SRW person, I know where a 3.54 locking D-80 SRW with disc brakes is laying, I should probably nab it up.
That'd take care of part of my signature.

What, the "rat pushing buttons" part?

Ike, did you fix the 5th gear nut? I can't remember.

As good as I could get it. The nut has double set screws, LocTite'd, and peened over the fully splined mainshaft....I hope it holds for a while...

Just don't lug it in 5th if you can help it and it should last a while. That's the main killer of those.

I usually don't grab 5th untill 55mph, then the rpms are 1350...probably too low... :|

5th in my 'rag used to be good to go at 50 if maintaining or 55 if accelerating, that was with 265/75/16's. With these damn 295/70/17's, it's no good until maintaining 60 or acceleration from 65.

At least I don't have to switch between 4th and 5th constantly when I got behind some huh? that can't maintain 55 now.

Well, I assume all this by sound. I have no tach or anything.
