I've had enough of my whimppy K20 6.2L, and bought my first 12V to replace it.
Need some help with what I bought. I picked up a bus 5.9 6BTA with the air to water after cooler, is it worth keeping?
naturally the Air compressor has to go and a PS pump and Vaccum must come in, easy.
The Exh. Manifold is a questionable subject, not used to what I've seen in a 5.9L, it's turbo flange is perpendicular to the head rather than slanted on a dodge. I think I will jsut buy an after market and bolt it on and have the turbo to aftercooler bent.
The big one, I think, The tranny, was an Allison auto, 545?, I removed the tranny, t/C, and flywheel, and trans adapterplate. But the cranshaft end has a large cylindrical 2" protrusion from the end that I thought would support the back of the T/C from flexing? Is it part of the crank? non removeable? , do I need another crank to use the Chevy manual transmission adapter? I got it from a 4 bt bread truck to use on the NV 4500/ NP205 I already have? I dont plan to go HP on the diesal. Bottom line is this a all one piece crank? It has a VE pump, Just need some advice to get me started, All I plan to do is freshen up the engine, new oil pump, rings, bearings, clean, and valve Job, bronze valve guides. Help
