Since no one has replied, I guess I will give it a shot
As for air ride, I haven't seen anyone actually go to a true air ride suspension with bars and links to locate the axle, most folks go with a Kelderman or something. I have a older single-bag Kelderman on my 91, and it made a HUGE improvement over the bone jarring ride. Some people don't like the feel of the Kelderman systems under acceleration from a stop or slower speeds, the suspension "unloads" and the rear of the truck will rise slightly. If you have driven a bob-tail semi, it is the same feeling. Nothing wrong with it, just the nature of the beast. I personally wouldn't remove too many leaf springs without going with some sort of suspension control, but some folks have taken a few leafs out of the pack have stated an improvement in ride quality.
