Biker Trash

Postby Arnold Layne » Sun Nov 03, 2013 10:22 am

Anyone into motorcycles? Been a long angry harvest season, now that it's over I need to think some happy thoughts like Cummins, Jeeps, and motorbikes. Here's my Silent Gray Fellow, and maybe my Electra-Glide. ImageImage

X2! A 4bt in that would be sweet! Is the gray one silent because it doesn't get run? It looks too clean to be out much.

Not much of a bike ridin' crowd huh. The gray one is much filthier now, the pic was taken right after I put it together. The red one had been T-boned at an intersection, I bought it from a bike salvage yard and put it back together. I will have to get some pics going from the backyard, several 60's trucks out there, at least two more shortboxes in 'kit' form. I drove the old ones for a long time, but the newer trucks are easy to get used to, you know, doors that shut, heaters with defroster, brakes that usually work, and I especially don't miss the snowdrift over my left leg in the winter!

I used to ride, but the wife and kids took care of that in a few years. I'm actually looking for a bike to ride, problem is, if I get a beater to ride to work to save fuel, I'll want to ride all the time again. And if I get a nice bike to ride, I won't want to ride it to work and get it dirty. I can't win. :(

Pete, this was my cure for needing a fuel sipper and not really caring if it get's a little dirty,
not big, but it sure is fun, I went about 2 years without a bike of some sort or another from the
ripe old age of 10, I love to ride.

I even take it with me sometimes just for the heck of it.

Sherpa? Isn't that a guide in the Himalayas? Dar, I thought about going that route. I rode a buddys enduro bike for a couple hours, I used it to go grab some parts. It was OK, but not quite what I'm looking for. After some careful consideration I think I want a sport tourer. A late '80's early '90's Ninja, Katana, something like that. No less than 900cc, if it doesn't go like hell, I'm not much interested. ;)

I'd love to have a bike just can't afford one.

I sold my bike for a tractor.
-1991 D-250 bone stock
-2000 Ford Windstar TDI Diesel 5 spd
-1997 Civic Hatchback
-Case 530 CK
-Old Huskee Garden Tractor w/Cub Cadet deck, Simplicity Snow-blower, loaded tires & chains - is it weird the tractor is modded more than my truck?

Some big mouths told my wife how I used to ride a bike. She doesn't want me to have one.

I've got a Buell XB9s, I haven't ridden it much this summer since I got an old lady. I don't like having passengers on it, it just ruins the ride.

Only recent pic I have of it.

I would tell her to eat sthi and find something to do while I go ride, but I already tell her that all the time when I'm working on my truck. I'd almost feel guilty if I did it any more often.

Philip, my wife has ridden with me. Once. I cured her of that habit right off the bat. I had 1 GF that used to ride with me, she never hung on. When we were out playing with my friends I would tap her on the leg and she knew Shit was gonna happen, and then she'd hang on. Usually I'd pull the front wheel up and away we'd go!

Taco, that's where small chicks are nice, they just sit back there and don't upset the bike much. With big chicks you should be riding a Harley. I've been there with chicks, that's why the wife doesn't ride with me. ;)

Last girl couldn't have weighed more than 80lbs, but that bike was made strictly for handling and even a couple extra lbs that weren't directly telling the bike what to do stood out like crazy. I had a tank bag on it with my waterproof liner and some water bottles in it. I had to take it off and wear a backpack, just that little extra weight up there drove me nuts.

80lbs? with you? no way! The girl I liked to ride with weighed about 90 or 100lbs soaking wet. She was fun, I could hardly tell she was back there. There is a road near me that used to be a seasonal road, now they blacktopped it but it's still a narrow twisty thing. It's just 1 hairpin after another on the way down. I was late getting her home 1 night and we went down that so fast the pegs would hit and I'd throw the bike over on the other side and the pegs would hit and back to the other side. She never said a word but she had a big grin on her face when I got her home. I miss her sometimes. :(
