Hit the dyno

Postby RCCUMMINS89 » Sat Nov 16, 2013 7:30 pm

Mustang dyno.....50 psi at 1100-1200 degrees.

423 hp/1321 tq on the screen (all 3 pulls, I know what I saw)...........however my sheet shows 420/1220, wtf? I'll try and get the wife to get the print out up tomorrow. I now see why people "complain" so much on Mustang dynos. I was within 80 hp of a twin cp3, compound turboed common rail, and 125hp of a truck that has previously made over 800 (again a common rail)..... The dx2 truck was almost 200hp lower than he normally is.... I'm not complaining, I'm simply stating why I now understand why they are called "heartbreaker" dynos.

I've got to call the shop, as I forgot to ask the cf.

Loaded so heavy that it took over 10 seconds for me to make my run  .

That's a good run Eric. I bet some of the newer trucks were a little shocked.

Ya.... I don't know if the thing is/was reading weird or not. hp to tq seems way weird.... but just saying what it said.

Either way... I'll rock the number, LOL.

Oh, and once again.... after my first pull the crowd all come over to check out the numbers. The 62fmw SCREAMS and my short exhaust makes my truck sound like a 600hp truck. Had multiple people ask me what turbo I had on the truck.

Just found out that the correction factor was in the negatives......which is why (so I was told) that they printout numbers were lower (printout was corrected :?: ).

Ok.……… why don't they just not use a correction factor?

Not a clue..... I've never seen a dyno that doesn't use a correction factor (in my area). My beliefs are this... turbod or not... air/altitude, etc.. has a major affect on power output. Those of us that live in a place where elevation changes are in a daily activity notice this. Now, are the correction factors correct? Not anymore than one particular dyno over another.

Seems that ONLY the "internet/forum world" has anything to say about correction factors and this dyno is low because, or this dyno is high because.... yada yada my numbers are better type thing. Ya know... the norm.

And lastly... due to my company and entire diesel thing being online. It would be easier for me if there was no correction factor, as I simply just don't care what it "should of made in the right environment" I want to know what it did, that day, at that time.

Good numbers Eric! 8) Can they adjust the load on that dyno? The one we usually go to is a Dynojet IIRC, and the operator adjusts the load depending on the truck. I got on after a duramax truck and the load was set at 25%. My truck groaned and he cut it right off. He then set it at 10% for my truck and I did 388hp. When I dynoed on a trailer type with the same set up I did 349hp. That's the number I use if anybody asks. I think the trailer type where you spin a heavy drum is more accurate, all the trucks are running the same load. Kinda hard to compare numbers when you have 10% load and the next guy has 25%.

It has an adjustable load.

We tried 3 different loads. The more load we went with the lower my hp was but higher the tq was. When we went with a lighter load hp went up and tq went down. It was a very mild change though. On this particular one.... I don't think I could of changed the numbers more than 10-20hp or tq no matter what we did with the load (unless it was way too little of load)

Nice numbers. I really wish I could've dyno'd mine in august, but air being in the fuel really doesn't make much power. Next year maybe if I get my engine back together
