You can either regulate a P-pump LP or put a lower pressure spring in it, which is what the LPLPs are. They're all the volume of the HPLPs without the pressure.
RC sells springs you can put in a HPLP to convert it to a LPLP, then if you ever convert you can just put your old spring in.
I would assume it's a minimum of $50 savings over buying a regulator, let alone all the other fittings and whatnot it takes to put a regulator inline. Then again, I'm running a regulator. It all works the same way.
