Fuel Pressure Gauge

Postby dyne_79 » Sat Mar 15, 2014 10:16 pm

I have a 93 with a 5 speed, 167k on it. Is it recommended to run a fuel pressure gauge? I plan on ordering one and am coming across two types of pressure fittings to hook up the gauge. Do I need this auto meter 3279? http://www.amazon.com/Auto-Meter-3279-P ... el+snubber

or do I need this from Geno's http://www.genosgarage.com/12MM-CUMMINS ... yUzjoVhp2E

You need the one from Geno's.

Some pressure gages come all ready snubbed. I would hook the gage up and try it. I have a Isspro fuel pressure gage. It is snubbed.

Without the fitting, where can you plumb into the fuel line?

I've personally never seen a snubber work........the only thing that has worked for me, leave air in the line. Air works as the ultimate snubber/damper.

My 91 has a snubber and isolator running to an Isspro R5604R. I used that same snubber when setting everything up. Everything works well ;)

I went ahead and ordered the snubber from geno's. What banjo bolt does it replace?

The one coming out of the filter head. It will be the one towards the front.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

I'm using a needle valve as a "snubber". It works good, but leaving air in the line works about the best atleast until the line fills up with fuel and makes its way to my gauge(mechanical non-isolated).

I've been fortunate enough to never have the air leave the line.... not entirely sure why though.

I'd think a higher mounted gauge might keep air in the line longer. My gauge is mounted kind of low, where the ash tray was.

I'm using one also, I've the genos snubber with a needle valve snubber, but my gauge is a 3 in 1 glow shift so I'm not sure how well it works since I can't really see the numbers bounce like you can the needle with a mechanical.
