If you happen to break a line, run new lines from the block in the front direct to the hose connection. You won't need the adapters, that's the way I did mine. It's only the valve that has the funny size fittings.

In case anyone is curious, the fittings are available at NAPA in their Weatherhead box. Total for both fittings was about $5 with tax.

I just did this after my abs box decided to take an early retirement. I got the fittings from oreillys, and its in the edelmann brand. My store had them in stock, I think most of them should as they all have basically the same cabinets for brass fittings.

I'm bringing this thread back from the dead :)

I was trying to remove the lines from the RWAL valve today to bypass it, but both lines broke.
So I've decided to run a new line between the block in the front and the hose connenction in the rear.
But I didn't have time to loosen them to check the size, and would like to get a new brake line made tomorrow.
So I'm wondering if anyone happens to know what sizes and types of fittings are used in both of those ends?

I do know if you run new lines, you don't need the special fittings. The line is 3/16, and the line nut screws right into the hose connection for the axle. I can't remember what size was on the front end of the line.

^^^ This is what I did on my 92, just took the "in" line off the abs dump valve and hooked it directy to the rubber hose running to the axle. Simple enough

I measured the threads in both ends, and the one in the front was 13.6mm (0.535") and the rear was 9.3mm (0.367").
What (pipe thread?) dimensions does that translate to?

It's not pipe thread, (NPT) it's a straight thread. If you have the line off, just take the ends to the parts store and match them up, that's what I do for the odd ends to the master cylinder and proportioning valve and stuff.

Ok, hi everybody. Forgive me if this is a dumb/obvious question but I can't figure this out. I all of a sudden have a mushy brake pedal. I do research and find this thread- promptly go out and buy the fitting (b/c you guys make it sound so easy) b4 I even look @ the abs valve. Sitting @ work right now I look under the truck AMD find the valve in the back framerail just behind the axle. It has two male fittings going into the unit- the fittings I have are both female to male fittings. 7917- 5/16 female to 1/4 male and (edit) 7828- 1/4 female to 3/16 male.
Now my question is how do I join the two brake lines into these fittings once I join the fittings together? (5/16 female to 3/16 male)

Or did Napa get me the wrong fittings. Do I need a 1/4 female to 3/16 female fitting? Instead of female/male

Thanks and sorry for the long post.

Drew

Look on the 1st page, I think you have a wrong fitting. It should be a 7828 instead of a 7818. Just read both pages of the thread, there are several sets of part numbers so you should be able to get the right ones.

No your right- I did the get the 7828- @ least that is what the invoice says and the parts guy behind the counter says. It was a mis-type while using my phone. I have read the two pages and it is says to remove the valve and replace it with the fittings tied together or cut and reflare the tubing end.
I didn't see any pictures- and like my posts asked- I think I was given the wrong fittings b/c the two males ends of the pipes don't fit into the female/male ends of fittings once tied together.

just trying to clarify- I think I will be going back to napa- and see if I can get a female/female fitting to swap out.
