Some of you may have known that for the last 6 months I've been chasing a wobble/shimmy, like a death wobble, at 58-65mph. I switched to Toyo M/T and all was good, except over 70 it turned really bad.
Have gone through every single thing imaginable and about 5 different tire/suspension places, mechanics, and even myself couldn't find a single thing wrong (loose) on ANYTHING.
Finally, I decide to replace my wheel bearings.... just because I was about to drive the thing off the cliff. Didn't have time to do it myself, so I had one of the local axle guys do it.... He finishes it, I drive it around and the wobble has changed (interesting). I jack up the front of my truck and both wheels are
loose. I'm pissed, and like wtf. I torque them myself and realize things just aren't torqueing right... too tight, too fast, yet too much wobble.
To shorten the story up... dude put in the wrong races. Put in a race with a 25ish degree difference in face angle.
It's getting fixed tomorrow morning.
Now the kicker.....the wrong races have been in for the last 60k miles. I think the bearings finally wore out enough that the wheels were wobbling from the poor bearing to race contact.
