Oh I am well aware it can and has been done, and some do it quite often, but that still doesn't make it a good idea. LOL If you are over 30000lbs gross with a 1-ton truck and trailer you are overloaded. ;) Not to say I haven't done the same things back before I got smart and bought semis. I can now gross 100,000lbs and not have to wonder if I can stop it or if it will make the trip in one piece. :P

Josh, no problem with the thread...LOL...

What all did you have done to that tranny for $9K? THat thing has got to be friggen bulletproof! Did you have it gold plated or somethin! Any idea what suncoast's different ratings are, or some prices? I may have to rethink the plans that I had...

gold plated  I wish. No actually were havin a hard time keepin converters in it. Its got everything you can get. Billet from the flexplate to the output shaft. Ive got buddies that dragrace and sledpull with close to twice the power that dads got and dont have a problem. It just doesnt like those llllooonnngg hard pulls goin uphill i guess. I know hes gettin pretty mad about it. I would be too. Its gettin a new converter, upgraded pump, and acouple other things. Everything is under warrenty. But the down time is what kills us. The worst part is hes got all this money sittin behind a 24v. I told him if it was a 12v he wouldnt have a problem.

Oh, ok...i doubt I'll be needing billet EVERYTHING any time soon!! Too bad it isn't gold plated though...that would be pretty trick.

Anyways, back to the original purpose of this thread...I think I'm going to stick with a big single turbo when I start the upgrades. What do you guys think would make a good single. Reading turbo numbers is completely greek to me...the whole turbo thing is completely new to me...

I have a chance to get a brand new CAT turbo, but can't find any specs and don't know how well it'll work. I'll try to get some pics up onto photobucket and link them here later on today...the P/N on it is 4R8915...it came off of a military LMTV if that helps at all.

that would be what they call an s200 it is off an older style 3126 cat not sure what the exact size is but i think don is right its around a 57mm or so. it is an upgrade over the factory turbo but it is about the same as an hx 35

well i retact that statement. that is and s300 just a small one maybe off a lower hp c7 the s300's have the bolt on wastgae cover and the s200's have a cast in one. get a set of calipers and measure the wheels some of the cats had a 60-65 s300 on them and that may be what you have in those pics

dont need calipers to tell ya that the inducer dia is less than 60mm

55mm is 2.150 (approx)

Great...I guess I'll pick it up then...better than stock is better than what i've got, and the price is right...

Being that it's a "small" S300...would it end up being a good top turbo for a twins setup??

Thanks guys,
Jimmy

just depends on what kinda power your wantin to make. it would be a good top for a set of towing style twins. oh and make sure you get the right flange for the ex outlet my cat turbo is 4" but it isnt an hx40 style like most. its called a marmon flange or somethin weird like that??
